INSTRUCTORS

Master Greg Livaudais (head instructor) is a 5th Degree Black Belt and has been training in Taekwondo and Hapkido since 1993. He has won over a dozen combined State and Regional Championships in Forms, Olympic Sparring, and Point Sparring. Out of his three times competing at the USTU National Championships he placed second twice and first place once. At the 2008 U.S. Open International Taekwondo Championships he placed first in forms and second in sparring. Master Livaudais is a certified coach with the AAU and has also been certified as an AAU judge and official. Master Livaudais application for 5th Dan was reviewed and approved by the AAU National Board of Examiners, and he tested at the AAU National Championships in 2009 before the AAU Judging Panel.

Master Ross Livaudais (head instructor) is a 5th Degree Black Belt and has been training in Taekwondo and Hapkido since 1993. He was Kukkiwon certified at age 10. He has won over a dozen combined State and Regional Championships in Forms, Olympic Sparring, and Point Sparring. He's also won first place in Olympic Sparring and third place in Forms at the AAU National Championships. Master Ross is a certified coach and athlete with the AAU. Master Livaudais application for 5th Dan was reviewed and approved by the AAU National Board of Examiners, and he tested at the AAU National Championships in 2009 before the AAU Judging Panel. Shannon Livaudais (asst. head instructor) is a 4th Degree Black Belt and has been training in Taekwondo and Hapkido since 1996. Shannon is a certified coach and athlete with the AAU. She has won over a dozen combined State and Regional Championships in Forms, Olympic Sparring, and Point Sparring. Shannon has won a total of four gold, three silver and three bronze medals at USTU and AAU National Championships and Junior Olympics, and placed second at the USKA World Championships.

Joe Vail (instructor) is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and is trained in Taekwondo, Hapkido and kick boxing. He has competed in many martial art style competitions including Olympic style Taekwondo sparring, Karate and Taekwondo point sparring, kick boxing, and forms competition. Mr Vail has competed on both the local and state championship level. He trained master Greg Livaudais for National and International competitions and coached him at the 2008 U.S. Open International Championships. Mr Vail operated his own Taekwondo school at Metairie Country Club before it was lost due to Hurricane Katrina.

All four instructors started their Taekwondo trainning under Grand Master Yang K. Moon, one of the first Koreans to leave his native country of Korea with General Choi Hong-hi, the "Father of Taekwondo", to introduce the world to Taekwondo as both a martial art and sport. Taekwondo became a demonstration sport at the Olympics in 1988 and in 2000 made its debute as an official olympic sport.

olympiansOur three head instructors have trained with members of the U.S. Olympic Taekwondo teams, including 1992 gold medalist Herb Perez, 2000 Team Captain Barbara Kunkel, and World Champion and Olympic Team Head Coach Jean Lopez. Many of the trainning drills used in class are those taught us, and used by the U.S. World and Olympic Champions.
