2012 started with our January belt test. Congrats Ms Julie, Shaun, Maddie, and Alex. Our 2012 Boot Camp was on Feb 2nd and was conducted by Major Derek Boese. March began with 5 LST athletes going to Houston for the AAU Regional Qualifier for Nationals. Congrats to Mstr Ross, Mr Stephen, Kevin, Angela, and Juan for bringing home 7 gold and 4 silver medals. The following weekend was the BREC Karate tournament in baton Rouge. We had 16 go and win a total of 18 1st place, 4 2nd place, 5 3rd place, and 4 4th place. Mstr Greg, mstr Ross, ms Julie, Vanessa and Natalie taught 2 days of self-defense at Dominican High School. In April we spent three days teaching self-defense at Ursuline Academy to over 400 students. Eleven of our students competed in the PAMA Bayou Championships winning a bunch of gold and silver medals. May started with a belt test for Elijah and Emory. We then went to the AAU Regionals in Houston, TX. All 7 athletes placed and quailified for Nationals. |

In January we attend the The Red Phoenix Tournament; 13 competitors in either 2 or 3 events each (Forms, Point Sparring, Olympic Sparring) = 16 Gold, 12 Silver, 5 Bronze. We also had our first belt test of the year with 9 promotions. In February we conducted an Olympic Sparring seminar at Griffin's AMA in Gonzales and taught self-defense at Mt Carmel Academy with about 450 girls attending throughout the 7 classes. In March, Mstr Frank from Griffin's AMA came to help kick off our Sunday trainings with a lesson in point sparring. In March we advanced 5 white belts. In April, 3 students went to the AAU Regional Championship & National Qualifier in San Antonio, TX and won 3 gold and 3 silver medals. We had a good showing at the White Tiger tournament. Five of our students, and two from AMA competed at the AAU Regional Championship & National Qualifier in Houston. We won a lot of trophies and everyone qualified for Nationals. In June/July, we did great at Nationals, 4 student brought home 7 medals, placing in every event they competed in. This was followed by our annual summer belt test-pizza-swim party. In July we had our belt test and annual Pizza-Swim Party. Several students competed in Griffin's AMA Karate tournament and did very well. In August we had a belt test and a few students competed in the Silver Dragon Championships and did quite well. On Thurday September 8th we had Saints Night at TKD and everyone got to wear their Saints T-shirt or jersey. Our belt test was on the 27th. Congrats to Nathan and Gabby on your promotions. In October we competed in two tournaments: Baton Rouge Battle of the Belts and the PAMA Fall Bayou Championships. We did very well at both tournaments. We also did a demo at the JCC for Members Appreciation Day. On Halloween night our Monday class enjoyed Hallow-Kwon-Do. The kids attended class in costume. In November 25 students competed in the Moon College Invitational Tournament in Metairie, LA.We had a great showing. Our last class of the year was a special celebration we called Santa-Kwon-Do. Everyone wore Santa Claus hats as we worked out and played reindeer games. |

In January we had our largest belt test yet! 3rd Dan Tara Richardson was our guest judge. Jack, a JCC Trainer, conducted a Boot Camp to get us started on our physical conditioning classes. In April, Masters Greg & Ross and Shannon conducted self-defense classes for all of Cabrini High School's P.E. classes from April 26 - 28. We kept busy in the Spring with three tournaments: PanAm Bayou Championships, AAU District Qualifier in Dallas, and the first annual Battle of Louisiana. At Nationals, Ben places 3rd in Sparring and Shannon wins 1st place in Forms and places 3rd in Sparring. In August, we had a great showing at the Silver Dragon Championships in Morgan City, LA. In September Mstr Greg and Ross taught womans self-defense at Mount Carmel High School for 2 full days. Over 600 girls took part in the seminars. They also gave the same seminar to the families of our students on our first annual Family Self-Defense Night. Four students competed in the PanAm Fall Bayou Championships and came home with 6 first place trophies and 1 third place. In November 8 students competed in the Moon College tournament and won 10 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. |

2009 was a great year. In March three students competed in the PanAm Spring Bayou Championships tournament winning all first place trophies. Congrats Ben, Juan, and Shannon.
In April we traveled to Houston for the the AAU Regional Championships and national Qualifier. We won a ton of trophies! In June we went on to AAU National Championships in Fort Lauderdale, FL where our two athletes competed in 2 events each and won medals in all. We came home with 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze. Congrats Ben & Juan!
At the July belt test, Shannon tested for, and passed, her 4th degree black belt. Congrats Shannon!
In August we performed a TKD demo at a birthday party at the JCC and also competed in the Silver Dragon Championships in Morgan City. In October we had three students compete in the PanAm Fall Bayou Championships. Congrats Shannon, Ben, and Jacob! Our last tournament of the year came in November at the Moon College Invitational in Metairie. We had a good showing. |

In January we endured the cold and the bugs as we continued to train the garage. The good ol' days! In February Shannon and Mr Greg competed in the U.S.Open International Championships held in New Orleans. In August Shannon was our only competitor at the Silver Dragon Championships in Morgan City where she won two gold medals. In September we moved from our garage dojang to the Metairie JCC. Mr Leon invited us to train with the Pyung Soo Do school and teach sparring classes, so we consolidated locations and moved to the JCC. Our first workout room was the aerobics room. When it went under construction we had a few classes in the school's cafeteria before moving into the gym where we now train. In September we conducted a TKD demo at the JCC's Members day event. In November, Shannon, Eric, and Ben competed in the Moon College Invitational tournament, winning medals in all events. |

| In June 2007 a few of Ross's friends from his HS graduating class asked if he and Mr Greg could teach them some Taekwondo. So they met, unofficialy, at the Metairie JCC on Sunday afternoons. It started with Ross, Josh, Ryan, Steven and Daniela (Juan's sister). Soon twin sisters Nicole and Megan joined. By the end of the summer their JCC guest memberships ran out and we were losing our workout area to birthday parties and other functions. They wanted to continue training in a more official manner and even test for belt advancement. So Mr Greg rented a nice two car garage in the neighborhood and started having classes there two days a week. This is how Louisiana Sport Taekwondo got started.
In November our first tournament as a school was our student's first ever tournament too. |
